Our story

Hikari Medical Solutions

In a world where medicine is evolving faster than ever, true innovation is not only defined by technology—but by the clarity with which we understand patients, clinicians, and the future of healthcare. Hikari Medical Solutions was born from that conviction. Not as another medical device company, but as an answer to a deeper question:

What if a medical technology could be more precise… and more human?

The Moment everything changed

It began in Osaka.

During a meeting between engineers, physicians, and strategists, professionals who had spent decades developing technologies within companies like Hitachi Healthcare, Canon Medical Systems, and Fukuda Denshi, a different kind of conversation emerged.

It wasn’t about specifications. It was about shared frustrations.

The rigidity of large corporations. The disconnect between engineers and clinicians. The limited accessibility of advanced technology in the places that needed it most.

That day, a company was not created. A decision was made.

To build something new. More agile. More connected. More purposeful.

That was the beginning of Hikari.

The Philosophy That Guides Us

Hikari means light in Japanese.

But for us, light is more than a symbol. It is a principle. Clarity in diagnosis. Precision in every image. Vision in every innovation.

Our approach is deeply rooted in Japanese philosophy:

Kaizen

Continuous improvement in every detail.

IKIGAI

Purpose behind every solution.

Monozukuri

The art of craftsmanship and excellence

Because technology should not just impress, it should perform, adapt, and transform.

An Ecosystem, Not a Portfolio

Today, Hikari Medical Solutions operates as a global holding structured across five integrated divisions:

Imaging Solutions

Empowering clarity in diagnosis.

Prosthetics Solutions

Technology that restores movement, autonomy, and life.

Diagnostics Solutions

Data that connects, interprets, and anticipates.

Aesthetics Solutions

Clinically responsible innovation for wellbeing.

Surgery Solutions

Precision where there is no margin for error.

Hikari is not built from scratch.

It is built upon decades of experience in the development of advanced medical technologies. But where others inherit structures, we chose to reinvent them.

Our difference lies in:

  • Merging Japanese precision with a global mindset

  • Bridging the gap between advanced technology and real-world accessibility

  • Designing with clinicians, not just for them.

  • Creating portable, connected, and future-ready solutions.

Because innovation is not defined by complexity, but by impact.

Our Founders

Behind every innovation, there is a vision. And behind Hikari, there are four minds who chose to redefine how medical technology is designed, integrated, and experienced. Engineering, science, medicine, and global strategy, converging into a single purpose: to make healthcare more precise, more accessible, and more human.

Cofounder & Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Kenji Takamura

Osaka, Japan

A radiologist with over 25 years of experience in diagnostic imaging, Dr. Takamura has dedicated his career to refining how clinicians interpret the human body through technology. After leading clinical development initiatives at Hitachi Healthcare, he co-founded Hikari with a clear mission: to ensure that every technological innovation translates into real clinical impact. At Hikari, he oversees the clinical integration across all divisions, ensuring diagnostic accuracy, medical validation, and alignment with real-world workflows.

“Technology only matters when it improves a clinical decision.”

Cofounder & Chief Technology Officer

Akira Saito

Tokyo, Japan

An electronics engineer specialized in advanced medical hardware, Akira Saito has led the development of key ultrasound, Doppler, and imaging technologies for over 15 years at Canon Medical Systems.

His vision blends technical precision with future-forward thinking: smarter, more efficient devices seamlessly integrated into the digital healthcare ecosystem.

At Hikari, he leads the technological architecture of the holding, driving innovation across imaging, surgical systems, and robotic prosthetics.

“Innovation is not about adding complexity it's about making technology essential.”

Cofounder & Director of Global Strategy

Yumi Nakamoto

Yokohama, Japan

A specialist in international expansion and market development, Yumi Nakamoto has led the global positioning of Japanese medical technologies across more than a dozen countries during her tenure at Fukuda Denshi. Her perspective is clear: innovation only matters when it reaches the right market at the right time.At Hikari, she leads the global strategy, connecting technology with opportunities across Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

“Technology doesn’t change the world, access to it does.”

Cofounder & Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Ryota Kobayashi

Kyoto, Japan

A bioengineering researcher specializing in medical imaging and AI-driven diagnostics, Dr. Kobayashi has focused his career on bridging the gap between advanced science and clinical application. With experience collaborating on projects with Hitachi Healthcare and Canon Medical Systems, he leads scientific validation, AI integration, and predictive modeling at Hikari. His work drives the evolution toward a more predictive, precise, and connected form of medicine.

“The future of medicine is not just seeing better, it’s understanding earlier.”

A Borderless Vision

From Osaka to the world.

Hikari was born with a clear vision: to bring high-precision medical technology to environments where it traditionally did not reach. to make healthcare more precise, more accessible, and more human.
